"1959 is a year when outstanding quality came thanks primarily to passerillage rather than to noble rot. Passerillage means that the flavour concentration is due to partial drying in the air of over-ripe grapes, resulting in maximum sugar concentrations. With this wine, the colour is rich amber, the nose showing Virginia tobacco, caramelised orange and honeyed notes, still thoroughly fresh. On the palate, superb concentration, velvety, mellow and unctuous, with a fresh, exceptionally long finish." AH
