FIRST EDITION, offprint issue, of the account of 'Dora', the first of Freud's important series of psychoanalytical case histories. In treating the 18-year-old 'Dora' for hysterical symptoms Freud analysed two recurrent dreams that illuminated the sexual basis of her hysteria, and he published the case history 'to illustrate the value the interpretation of dreams had for analytic treatment (Jones II, p.288)' (Norman). All works in this lot were originally owned by the Swiss psychiatrist and contemporary of Freud, Dr. Dumeng Bezzola, who also investigated hysterical phenomenon.
