Lot Essay

Sadly it is not known who Hitchcock's fellow party goers are, but it is apparent that he is, unsurprisingly holding court. Hitchcock visited Frankfurt several times, including in 1966 and 1972 and of course, he had worked in Germany in the 1920s. Therefore Frankfurt seems to be the likely location of the photographs, although one of them shows in the background a jet of Austrian Airlines whilst another shows Hitchcock standing next to stewardesses from the same airline whilst being interviewed.
