Lot Essay
A carver, gilder and frame maker, Thomas Ferrand of York (1786-1852) was admitted freeman in 1809 and was in partnership with William Dodgson in Coney Street from 1814-1816. His label is recorded on several pieces, including a pair of early-Georgian style mirrors on loan to the Philadelphia Museum of Art (see G. Beard and C. Gilbert, Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, Leeds, 1986, pp. 297).
