Jasper van der Borght (d. 1742) belonged to one of the most significant tapestry weaver dynasties in Brussels and is recorded as having obtained his privileges in 1684.

The borders of this tapestry can also be found on another mythological tapestry, possibly from the same set as the offered lot, sold Sotheby's, New York, 22 - 23 November 1985, lot 458, while another with identical borders but by Albert Auwercx and depicting the allegory of 'Simplicitas' is in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (D.
