With twist sighted barrels signed 'T.J. MORTIMER. MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY. LONDON' in gothic script on the rib, scroll engraved patent breeches each with pierced platinum plug, long scroll engraved tang with rectangular gold escutcheon, back-action locks each signed 'T.J. MORTIMER' and 'ST. JAMES' ST.' on ribbons and engraved with scrollwork inhabited by pheasants, well figured walnut half-stock (some bruising, fore-end cracked through and repaired, replacement barrel-bolt escutcheons acting as reinforcing bars) with chequered grip, scroll engraved iron mounts, and brass-mounted ramrod with worm (some wear to engraving, iron parts discoloured some scattered surface corrosion throughout), London proof marks and barrelsmith's mark of Thomas Jackson Mortimer, in original brass-cornered fitted mahogany case lined in blue velvet with some accessories including Sykes Patent brass-mounted copper powder-flask, the lid with trade label of Thomas Jackson Mortimer for circa 1824-38, the exterior with flush-fitting brass carrying handle and circular brass escutcheon
