A FINE NORTH INDIAN (SCINDE) 30-BORE PERCUSSION JEZAIL WITH GOLD-DAMASCENED MOUNTS
EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Converted from flintlock, with earlier three-stage twist sighted match-lock barrel with chiselled details heightened with gold-damascened foliage and gilt raised bands, the breech with gold-damascened inscription, standing rear-sight with gold-damascened flower-heads, tang with gold-inlaid borders, engraved flat bevelled European lock with stepped tail, hardwood three-quarter stock of characteristic form (fore-end cracked and repaired) with gilt mounts including trigger-guard with floral decoration, gilt barrel-bands, and iron ramrod (some discolouration to barrel)
