A SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BROADSWORD
SECOND QUARTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY
With tapering double-edged blade incised with shallow fullers on each side at the ricasso and struck on each side with numerous king's head marks (tip damaged, blade possibly associated), iron hilt of rounded bars carrying pierced and engraved panels, S-shaped bars and 'ram's horn' bars (rear quillon removed), spirally fluted wooden grip, probably original, and compressed fluted pommel with later button (the whole discoloured and pitted)
