A FINE GERMAN SLURBOW
DATED '1657'
With slender steel bow retained by cords, with cord string and pom-poms (one pom-pom missing, the string and pom-poms early replacements), moulded fruitwood tiller carved with a scroll in front of the cheek-piece and inlaid over much of its surface with engraved staghorn pellets and flowers, the butt decorated with three differing portrait heads on the right, the raised cheek-piece inlaid with a coat-of-arms, scrolls, a cornucopia, a castle within a landscape, and the abbreviated inscription 'I.W.V.R. AD 1657', bone bolt-channel and fruitwood bolt-guide, the latter decorated with engraved staghorn birds, iron nut, small stirrup, shaped trigger-guard, and set triggers
