Lot Essay

The SA-6 Surface to Air Missile was designed by the Soviets during the latter half of the Cold War as a medium range missile system capable of shooting down aircraft or other missiles. The SA-6 has become one of the most widely used SAM systems in the world with many variations that have been deployed by Soviet, Warsaw Pact and other armed forces. The SA-6 has a solid fuel propulsion system which can deliver speeds in excess of Mach 2, with an effective strike range of 4-24 kilometres and an operational altitude of between 50-1400 metres
