MAKER'S MARK CYRILLIC 'AB', ST PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1890
Of traditional form, on bracket feet, the trapezoidal body and hinged cover decorated with Pan-Slavic geometric and foliate motifs champlevé enamelled in white, blue, pale green and translucent red on stippled ground, the back centring a varicolour enamelled cockerel, the sides, cover and back enamelled in blue with Russian sayings, marked inside cover and under base
