Treasure from Singapore
The following wines have been consigned from the personal collection of a long-time consignor and friend of Christie's. These wines were removed from an immaculate home cellar where they were kept under the best conditions. This particular client amassed one of the largest collections anywhere, and bought the world's great wines with discernment.
He also bought with abandon - his cellar became just too large, and here he is trimming his home cellar - these are the wines that he kept closest to himself for everyday drinking. Now our clients will have the chance to do the same!
Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1990
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
In original wooden case
Levels: Nine into neck, three bottom neck
Tasting Note: A dozen notes, surprisingly easy and soft in the spring of 1991. Then, in the mid-1990s, attractive and fragrant, later high on elegance, low on power. On its 10th birthday, maturing nicely, bouquet evolving well but more bottle-age essential. Consistently good notes since, four recently, which can be summed up as follows: very deep, virtually opaque core, rich, velvety, still youthful; bouquet slow to open but developing fragrant spiciness, touch of cedar and typical medicinal whiff; medium sweet, perfect weight (12.5 good flavour, balance, length and excellent finish. A classic Lafite. Last tasted March 2000 ***(**) 2010 V 2030. M.B.
