Lot Essay

The stormy waters and high tides off Jersey throw up large amounts of seaweed, or vraic as it is know locally. Known for its qualities as a fertiliser, Jersey farmers traditionally gathered vraic on the beach with horses and carts to spread on their land, a practice known as vraicing.
