HUANG JUNBI (1898-1991)
LOTS 1917-1920 PROPERTY FROM THE FORMER COLLECTION OF TIAN MANSHI, STUDENT OF HUANG JUNBI Tian Manshi was born in Yancheng, Henan. She studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Kunste Munchen in Germany and received her honorary doctorate from Wonkwang University in Korea. Dr. Tian served as a member on the art education panel in Taiwan's Education Bureau and received professorships in colleges such as the National Taiwan Art Academy, Chinese Culture University, Taipei Hwa Kang Art School, Wonkwang University, University of San Francisco, and the Chinese Cultural Association at the University of California. Dr. Tian is known for her Huang Junbi paintings collection, notably works from the artist's middle period, which is considered the height of his career. It was during his most productive time that Huang Junbi concentrated in outdoor sketches. Huang later transcended the open air painting subject matter with his meticulous skill and rich color palette.
