Lot Essay

Minton set off for the West Indies in a banana boat in September 1950. He stayed with Captain Peter Balgrove who owned some spice plantations and also at Ocho Rios. He returned home with a mass of drawings and he worked on this material for an exhibition at the Lefevre Gallery in 1951.

We are grateful to Frances Spalding for her assistance cataloguing the present lot.
