Lot Essay

'There are many drawings of this subject. They differ from Sickert's earlier drawings and paintings of the scene in that they show a much longer stretch of the rue de la Barre' (W. Baron, Sickert: Paintings and Drawings, New Haven and London, 2006, p. 251).
