A GERMAN BROWN SALTGLAZE STONEWARE DATED ARMORIAL PEWTER-MOUNTED JUG
1599, RAEREN
The globular body moulded with the coat of arms of the Princes of Orange within an oval dated 1599 between lion supporters and flanked by smaller ovals moulded with the arms of Amsterdam, probably those of a Spanish order enclosed by the inscription IOAN:MINTZEBURG:PRIOR:CARMEL:FRANC..., the shoulder moulded with bearded mask ornament below incised chevrons, the hinged pewter with a shell thumpiece
