Lot Essay

Part of a group of Yongzheng and early Qianlong porcelains showing Westerners in very Chinese dress and settings. Other pieces from this tea service were in the Benjamin Ginsburg Collection (see Hervouët & Bruneau, op cit, p 113) and the Khalil Rizk Collection, sold Sotheby's, New York, 25 April 2008, lot 109.
