Lot Essay

The Count of la Cortina was married in Mexico City in 1775 and died there twenty years later. He was a member of the Consulado of Mexico and a consul 1787-8. R Diaz illustrates a portrait of Cortina (op cit, pp 340-343) and reports that "A large number of pieces from the service still belong to descendants of the Count."
