Lot Essay

Another of the very grand Spanish armorial services, this one for the Marquis also had large animal tureens emblazoned with his arms. Governor of the Philippines, he also strengthened the Franciscan missions in California; he was brother to one Viceroy of New Spain and uncle to another. See R Diaz, op cit, pp 244-249.
