Lot Essay

Diez de Rivera believes that this service commemorates the first meeting of the Court of Cadiz (op cit), its traditional attribution; R Diaz (op cit, pp 381-383) suggests it honors some event of the Peninsular War (1808-14), in which Viva La Espana was a rallying cry.
