Lot Essay

According to oral tradition, the gentleman in the portrait once owned the high chest in this lot and is believed to have been Dr. Alden March, a president of the Albany Medical Collect. Dr. March arrived in Albany in 1821 at the age of twenty-six. A prominent physician, he founded the Albany Medical College in 1839.
