Lot Essay

A nearly identical model can be found in J.W. Fiske's 1893 catalogue advertising copper weathervanes, bannerettes, lightning rods and stable fixtures (nos. 512-513). Another similar example is illustrated in Robert Bishop and Patricia Coblentz, A Gallery of American Weathervanes and Whirligigs (New York, 1981), p. 78.
