Lot Essay

Seven inkcakes are bearing an inscription on one edge Hui zhou hu kai wen zhi ('Made by Hu Kaiwen of Huizhou'). Hu Kaiwen was active between 1850-1864. Thereafter, his family continued to manufacture ink continuing to use his name.
