Lot Essay

Giovanni Bastianini (1830-1868) specialised in the production of sculptures in the Renaissance style. Many of these sculptures were placed on the market as genuine Renaissance works of art.
Niccolò da Uzzano (1359-1431), was a Florentine politician who opposed the mighty Medicis. The present bust is a 19th century copy of the 15th century original attributed to Donatello in the collections of the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence.
