A bronze figure of a Bon deity
Tibet, Bon, 15th/16th century
Seated in dhyanasana on a lotus-base over a stepped lion throne, holding a swastika, flaming chakra and lotus blossom in his four hands, clad in a dhoti with incised foliate hems and adorned with beaded necklaces and streaming ribbons, the smiling face tilted to his right with downcast eyes and surmounted by a tall foliate diadem, with an inscription on the reverse

Lot Essay

The Tibetan inscription on the verso reads, "gyalwa kagying karpo lanamo," which translates to "Homage to the Conquerer White Kagying."
