General Sir Rowland Hill, 1st Viscount Hill of Almaraz (1772-1842), who served throughout the Napoleonic Wars, commanded 2nd Corps at Waterloo and succeeded Wellington as Commander-in-Chief from 1828/39 and then by descent to the present vendor
