Lot Essay
Haoyuan zhenwan (the treasured thing of Haoyuan) is a mark associated with Xu Shizhang (1889-1954). Xu was a businessman and famous collector/connoisseur of Chinese art during the Republic era. Xu was also the cousin of Xu Shichang, the President of the Republic of China from 10 October 1918 to 2 June 1922. After Xu's death, his family donated much of his collection to the Tianjin Art Museum.
