Lot Essay

Interestingly, the border of this dish blends the typical 'Kraak porselein' panelled borders with Transitional style motifs such as the stylised tulips. For a discussion on this type of dishes, please see M. Rinaldi, Kraak Porcelain- A moment in the history of trade, London, 1989, pp. 112-116.
