FIRST EDITION. Mortimer discusses the merits and sources of the various portraits, mainly men of Cremona and dukes and duchesses of Milan, including a portrait of Massimiliano of Milan from a, now lost, painting by Leonardo da Vinci. Many of the engravings and portraits, taken from models in Paolo Giovio's museum, are by or after Agostino Caracci. Adams C-489; Brunet I, 1526; Mortimer Harvard, Italian 100.
