THE BEST EDITION OF THIS SUMPTUOUS GERMAN HORSE BOOK, first printed in 1588. Here the text has been entirely brought up to date, and the book arranged in a more systematic order by Valentin Trichter. The plates which are new to this edition depict different breeds of horses, dressage, military exercises, anatomy, bits, caparisons, tournaments and processions. One of the latter illustrates three processions of exotic animals -- an elephant, an ostrich with a rider, zebras, camels and a rhinoceros -- while another shows horses drawing magnificent baroque sleighs. Brunet III, 1144; Berlin Kat. 1402; Nissen ZBI 2542; not in Huth.
