Circular, the center gilt with octofoil strapwork, the border decorated with gilt, green and red foliate and strapwork ornament, centering an Imperial double-headed eagle, with the monogram of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich, marked under base with blue underglaze factory mark

Lot Essay

Based on a design by Feodor Solntsev (1801-1892), the designer of the Kremlin Service, this service was made between 1848-1852. It was ordered on the occasion of the marriage of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich to Alexandra Iosifovna, Princess of Saxe-Altenburg in 1848.
