The cabinet doors decorated with landscapes, the sides each with a vase of flowers, with pierced engraved mounts, the interior with a series of drawers, the pierced cresting and apron densely carved with scrolling foliage and putti, with figures to the uprights, the cabinet stamped BF twice to top and once to reverse, and inscribed 1916 to the backboards, formerly silvered
75 in. (190.5 cm.) high, 44½ in. (113 cm.) wide, 22½ in. (57 cm.) deep

Lot Essay

A very similar japanned cabinet-on-stand with a fully-formed figure centering the elaborately carved and pierced apron is illustrated as fig. 17 in R. Edwards and P. Macquoid, The Dictionary of English Furniture, New York, 1924, vol. 1, pg. 159.
