The serpentine fronted top with crossbanded edge over a drawer fitted with a felt-lined slide and a compartmented interior above three graduated drawers flanked by foliate-carved reeded pilasters, on later bracket feet with recessed casters, pulls later, later crossbanded

The chest's scroll trusses with foliate scroll-carved sides relate to an example possibly supplied by William and Richard Gomm as part of their extensive commission for Stoneleigh Abbey, Warwickshire (see: The late H.J. Joel, Esq., The Stud House, Childwickbury, Hertfordshire; sold Christie's, London, 1 April 1993, lot 216.)
