Qur'an XXIII, sura al-mu'minun, vv. 28-53, Arabic manuscript on vellum, 6ff. each with 7ll. of strong dark sepia kufic, green and red dots marking vocalisation, three folios with simply drawn red, yellow, green and gold floral medallions marking verse divisions, two of the leaves fragmentary with two fragments of another Qur'an stuck to them

Lot Essay

Another folio from this Qur'an sold in these Rooms, 11 October 1988, lot 40 and is now in the Khalili Collection (François Déroche, The Abbasid Tradition, London, 1992, no.69, p.126).
