An illustration to the Shahnama of Firdawsi, gouache on paper heightened with gold, Mazdah half naked hangs from a frame being shot through with arrows, followers of Mazdah are mutilated in the tree and river above, with the king Anishuran crowned and seated on a golden throne looks on, elegant nasta'liq verses above and below divided into four columns in white clouds set on gold with polychrome floral illumination, verso with nasta'liq calligraphy, set inside gilt and polychrome ruled floral margins, mount with typed description label by A. U. Pope
