MUGHAL INDIA, CIRCA 1600
Gouache heightened with gold on paper, a turbanned figure mounted on a rearing horse, holds his arm back as if to spear an attacking lion, in the foreground a tiger lies dead with an arrow piercing his back as an another man approaches, a rocky landscape with a various animals and a small town in the background, between gold and black rules and navy border with red and pink floral motif, some flaking of paint, miniature extended on either side and at the top
Miniature 10¾ x 6½in. (27.5 x 16cm.); folio 12 1/8 x 7¾in. (30.8 x 19.6cm.)
