Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with porcelain-white dial and twelve black Roman hour markers in 1986 and its subsequent sale on 13 June 1986.

Consigned by a private collector, this watch has never been offered in public before. It is furthermore believed to be the only example of a reference 3987 in yellow gold retailed by Gübelin to appear at auction to date.

Reference 3987, the "Ellipse" model with hobnail textured bezel, was launched in 1986 and remained in production during around 10 years.
