Lot Essay

This rare advance poster for A Fistful of Dollars introduced both Clint Eastwood's most famous character and a new genre of film - Spaghetti Westerns - to audiences for the first time. The advance campaign presented Eastwood as 'the man with no name', and further increased the mystique by not even mentioning the film's title.
