Of typical form with various sized shelves, drawers, hinged and sliding doors and decorated overall in gold, silver, red and black hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi-e and hirame and inlaid in Shibayama style in ivory and mother-of-pearl, the doors with figurative scenes inlcuding scholars, poets, samurai on rocks amongst waves, and Chinese figures with karako playing in a rocky landscape, the drawers with cockerels, hens, ducks and monkeys amongst streams, trees and flowers, bordered by panels of dragons, ho-o birds and cranes, the shelf backs with paulownia crests against shippo-hanabishi, silver fittings engraved with Tokugawa mon
