"Breathtakingly powerful, the 1982 Latour is still effectively an infant, with an inky black color and very little evolution on the nose. The wine at nearly thirty years of age seems to be in a time warp, with a primary nose of blackcurrant and plum fruit with a note of fresh violets and exotic Asian spices. Very ripe, full bodied and dense on the palate, the wine is still powerfully tannic. While it is undoubtedly wonderful to drink now, this is a wine as much for our children and grandchildren as it is for us. Almost unbelievably good." CC, at "The Eight" in Macau, May 2011
