A BLUE AND WHITE DEEP CUP
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
Decorated to the exterior with a continuous scene depicting a fenced garden setting in which a young man behind a willow tree spies on a couple's tryst, the reverse of the cup is decorated with the inscription Yun yi zun shu da ren, Qing wan, Yu zhi sheng together with the two-character seal mark Xi Long, double underglaze blue lines encircle the flaring rim and spreading foot, the glazed base is marked with a double underglaze blue circle.

Lot Essay

The inscription refers to the cup as a gift from a nephew, Xi Long, to his uncle Yun Yi Zun.
