A GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF A SEATED BUDDHA
17TH CENTURY
The figure with downcast eyes and serene expression is seated in dhyanasana with hands resting on his feet and holding a vessel in each, he wears loosely fitted robes open at the chest to reveal the buddhist swastika symbol, the hems of the robes are variously incised with lotuses, scrolling foliage, clouds and stylised waves, his hair and usnisa are cast with tightly coiled knots.
