It has been suggested that the sitters are Cassandra and Louisa Knight, daughters of Edward Knight of Godmersham Park, Kent. Cassandra, the eldest daughter, married in 1834 Lord George Augusta Hill (1801-1879), son of Arthur Hill, 2nd Marquis of Downshire.
