Lot Essay

There is an inscription in Japanese at the back of one drawer which states:

2 February Meiji Era Year 20 [1887], 1 Tansu; Furniture craftsman of Shiraishi Honcho-ku (Place where the furniture craftsman worked). Accepted to modify the Tansu at the price of 50 Yen 70 Sen. Tadasaburo Kaneko (the furniture craftsman)
