Lot Essay
                                The name An-ia is not listed in Ranke, Die ägyptischen Personennamen, but the ending, -iA, is known from several officials, including anan-iA and apr-iA.  The -iA ending is thought to be a transcription of the Semitic "El," and likely derives from the Hurrian component in the Syro-Canaanite population active in Egypt at this time (see p. 268 in Kozloff, Amenhotep III, Egypt's Radiant Pharaoh).
