The hinged top enclosing a fully fitted interior with mirror over a false drawer and kneehole cupboard with drawers, flanked by two banks of three drawers, the side with a hinged writing drawer, on bracket feet, the underside of the base with ink inscription F... BRIGGS.....SHEFFIELD

Lot Essay

The base bears an inscription 'F. Briggs...Sheffield' which appears to be that of the maker. While no Briggs has been identified working in Sheffield, a number of cabinet-makers of this name are recorded by the 19th century.
