Small oblong 2° (196 x 255mm). Engraved title, 35 (of 68) engraved maps of Mediterranean islands, one folding, 4 engraved plates. (Title soiled and stained, small repairs to 2 maps, occasional marginal light soiling and staining). Contemporary limp vellum gilt, manuscript title on spine (recased with new endpapers, rubbed and stained, lightly creased, lacking ties).
FIRST EDITION of an atlas covering the Turco-Venetian war in 1570-1573. The maps are by Domenico Zenoi, Paolo Furlani, Martino Rota, Natale Bonifacio e Fernando Bertelli. Donato Bertelli was a printer and bookseller and might have been related to Ferrando Bertelli who in 1568 published another atlas with the same title, but in different format and containing other maps. RARE. Only 2 copies held in Italian libraries, and only two sales recorded in on-line ABPC.
