Additional engraved architectural title with letterpress overslip, typographic title with woodcut printer's device in Van der Krogt's variant B, 60 engraved maps of Italy, comprising 58 double-page maps, one single-page and one half-page map. (Light spotting and browning, heavy to maps 34, 35 and 56 and their associated text-leaves, dedication leaf lightly creased.) Contemporary vellum, panelled in blind (extremities lightly rubbed, lightly soiled, lacking ties).

This is the eighth volume of Blaeu's Atlas Maior, the first of the large atlases to be published. It is the updated edition of the 1650 issue of the Latin edition of the third volume of the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum devoted to Italy. Van der Krogt 2:601[-3].9.
