2° (490 x 320mm). 16 plates, of which 8 are pochoirs and 8 are lithographs, and 8 tipped-in illustrations. (Light soiling or light yellowing in some blank margins, some leaves a little loose but holding). Contemporary black cloth with the original printed front wrapper mounted on upper side, printed endpapers (printed wrapper on upper side with some soiling, corners rubbed, front free endpaper detached and chipped, lower cover with some wear).

ONE OF 100 DELUXE COPIES SIGNED BY GONCHAROVA AND LARIONOV. With both Goncharova pochoirs in bright state. This impressive portfolio was published for Larionov and Goncharova's large exhibition of their theatrical work, held at the Galerie Barbazanges to celebrate their arrival in Paris. It comprises a series of pochoirs and prints of several of the designs on display. Valentin Parnack's essay discusses Larionov's theories about dance and theatre, and singles out the artist as the initiator of new types of choreography, including dances based on free movements, types of gait, animal movements, mechanical dance, and social dance related to work. Though this work is also known in a paper portfolio, the cloth binding may be a publisher's binding: the Bachkiroff copy had a similar presentation (Christie's London, 30 November 2004, lot 255). Number 97 of 100 signed copies. Hellyer 408; The Russian Avant-Garde and American Abstract Artists, 1983, 16 and 17, and illustrated p.38.
